Love is in the air with these Valentine’s Day-inspired crafts for your kids. These crafts involve glue and scissors. Caregivers, please exercise caution.

Heart Animals Valentine’s Day Crafts

What you will need:

  • Construction Paper
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Markers
  • Ribbon or string

Instructions:

  • Cut out several hearts about 2 ½ inches by 2 ½ inches.
  • To make an elephant, use two hearts. Also cut out part of a heart and then extend it directly from the bottom of the heart to make a curved trunk. Glue the tips of the two heart-shaped ears to the back of the head. Add googly eyes, mouth and your message.
  • To make a mouse, use two hearts. One for the body and one for the head. Glue the hearts together as shown. Add semicircles to the upper corners of the head to make the ears. Fold the ears so they stand upright. Add googly eyes and a mouth. Cut a hole to add a ribbon or string tail. Add a message.
  • To make a fish, use two hearts and a smaller heart. The two larger will be the fish’s body and the smaller one for the tail. Glue the hearts together as shown. Add googly eyes and a mouth. Add your message on the back.
  • Kids can also use markers, glitter or stickers to decorate the animals.

Valentine’s Day Heart Necklaces

What you will need:

  • Elmer’s Glue
  • Yarn
  • Glitter
  • Googly Eyes
  • Paper Clips
  • Wire cutters or utility scissors
  • Wax paper

Instructions:

  • Spread wax paper on the working surface.
  • Take Elmer’s Glue and form a heart shape.
  • “Color in” the heart with glue.Spread glitter.
  • Stick some googly eyes on the heart.
  • Bend a paper clip to help form the pendant.
  • Wait up to two days for heart to dry.
  • Cut yarn and run it through the paper clip.
  • Tie the ends together and you have a necklace!
