Local Moms Plan Yard Sale to Benefit Oklahoma Relief Efforts

After a tornado leveled Oklahoma City suburbs on Monday, killing more than 51 people including children, moms from a local Facebook group sprung into action.

These local mothers are planning a Charity Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at Lil' Sprouts Christian Childcare Center, located at 11 Mallett Way in Sheridan Commons behind Jim N' Nicks Barbcue in Bluffton. Proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross tornado relief efforts.

"A representative from the Red Cross said the best way to help tornado victims is to contribute financially," said Kelly Housaman, a member of the mom group and event organizer.

Anyone interested in donating items for sale at the charity yard sale should drop them off at the childcare center by Thursday, June 6. Anyone interested in selling items are asked to contribute $15 per space and to donate half of what they make to the American Red Cross. Tables and chairs will not be provided.

Hotdogs, hamburgers and other refreshments will be available for a small fee. Donated items that do not sell will be donated to local organizations, such as Bluffton Self Help or The Salvation Army.
