Beaufort's Best Hidden Talent

When/Where: Semifinal cmpetitions, 7:30 p.m. July 30 at ARTworks; and grand finale, 6 p.m. Aug. 6 on Paris Avenue in Port Royal
Info: Competition concerts open to the public. These musicians need to hear the roar of the crowd as they compete for the Grand Prize— a $1,000 paid gig in the Street Music on Paris Avenue concert in Spring 2012!

Christmas in July

When/Where: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 27 at The Sandbox — An Interactive Children's Museum on Hilton Head Island
Info: Festivities include special games and activities both indoors and outdoors. Outside fun includes getting crazy in our popular Bounce Castle and playing in the SNOW! In addition to playing in our “cool” museum, there will be scavenger hunts, games and fun arts & crafts. You can also decorate holiday cookies and chat with Santa to let him know how good you’ve been this year. A hot dog lunch, complete with chips, brownies, snow cones and lemonade, is also included so don’t miss out on the “coolest” day of the summer!
Cost: Ticket prices are $10 for adults and children, $8 for Sandbox Members and all children under 2 are free. Cost includes admission to the museum, all activities and lunch. Museum will remain open after the event until 5:00 pm.

Summer Jams Party in the Park

When/Where: Tuesdays from 7 – 10 pm through Aug. 9 at Shelter Cove Community Park

Info: The Island Recreation Association, along with our sponsors Budweiser, The Smokehouse and Adventure Radio, are proud to bring back the free Summer Jams Party in the Park. Come to the park every Tuesday night this summer and check out the fireworks in a fun-filled, festive atmosphere where kids can enjoy inflatable bounce houses and face painting.  Back again this summer is 103.1 The Drive’s Jeff Taylor who makes Summer Jams better than ever.  The highlight of the night is still the fireworks’ display around 9pm over Shelter Cove. Barbecue from the Smokehouse, hot dogs, Giuseppi’s pizza, Coca-Cola, Bud and Bud Light will be sold. All proceeds benefit our children’s scholarship fund which helps guarantee that “no child is denied” recreation opportunities. So once again bring your family and your friends on Tuesday nights this summer for a night of family fun and enjoy the fireworks in the park.

Kazoos on Vacation

'Because We are on Summer Vacation'

When/Where: Doors open at 7 p.m. and showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 15 at The Hilton Head Comedy Club

Info: Rick Hubbards' hit family show with music, comedy and fun for the whole family is back. Every child receives a free kazoo. Food and drink are available, along with a kid's menu.

Wacky Wednesday

Shannon Tanner

Info: Join Shannon and his silly songs as he performs one show a night for his 23rd year at HarbourFest. Entertainment, street vendors, shops and food seven nights a week.

Disney's Camp Rock

When/Where: 1-5 p.m. at Main Street Youth Theatre's rehearsal space, 25 New Orleans Rd. The show runs July 13th through July 31st with 13 performances at the Visual Performing Arts Center at the Hilton Head High School.  
Info: Actors, singers and dancers 12 years of age to young adults are encouraged to audition. Two male adults are also needed to play former Rock Stars. Please come prepared to perform 18 bars of a pop-rock song. Songs from the show are welcomed. Wear appropriate clothes and shoes in case you are asked to dance or come with a prepared hip hop dance to showcase your talents. You may be asked to read from the script. Main Street is also auditioning accomplished guitar, bass, drum and keyboard players for Camp Rock's performances. Rehearsals for Disney's Camp Rock will begin as soon as the show is cast and are typically held Tuesdays through Sundays.
