The toughest part of the day for many parents is the morning, when they have to drop off their little ones at daycare.

Some children will cry for just a few minutes after their parents leave while others will happily wave good-bye. Some might even say, "Have a good day!" (This happens frequently at Kids College; it always warms my heart). But more often than not, the real separation anxiety is stronger for the parents than the children.

Celebrate moms at this annual 5k race and Family Fun Day event with food, games and activities for children and families. Admission to Family Fun Day is free for race participants; $10 per family for non-race participants. Proceeds from this event benefit the Ruth Rhoden Craven Foundation for Postpartum Depression. The race begins at 8 a.m. May 12 at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island and is immediately followed by Family Fun Day from 9 a.m. to noon. Early registration is $25 per person. Historic Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival

The 7th annual Historic Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival will be held from Oct. 16-23 in the charming and eclectic historic district of Bluffton, well known for its quirky art community and natural beauty.
